The perfect week on the Red Sea.

Wake with the muezzin, coffee on a wooden pier, snorkel a reef before anyone else is up. Long lunches, a boat that is only ours, dinners in the marina until the moon is high. And an open door up the Nile to Luxor if you want it.

The week

Seven days, quietly ambitious.

Enough structure to see the best of it, enough space to slow down. Sea days, one desert night, and an optional detour up the Nile.

Day
01

Arrival & settle in

Land in Hurghada, 30 minutes to El Gouna, and check in at Panorama Bungalows Resort, our partner hotel on the lagoon. A welcome dinner by the water, time to wander Abu Tig marina, and if the group lands early enough, a first sunset sail.

Day
02

Giftun island, on a boat that is only ours

A full day at sea around Giftun National Park and Orange Bay: coral gardens, reef fish, white sandbanks. Snorkel gear and a beach lunch on board. Dolphins often pass by.

Snorkel · Beach lunch
Day
03

Desert & stars

Late afternoon quads into the Eastern Desert for the sunset, then a Bedouin camp for dinner with tea by the fire. Far from any town lights, the stargazing is the part people remember.

Quad · Bedouin dinner
Day
04

Lagoon day, your way

El Gouna's flat, shallow water makes it one of the easiest places to try kitesurfing. A first lesson for those who want it, paddleboards and long swims for everyone else. Evening on Tamr Henna square, then the marina.

Kitesurf lesson optional
Day
05

Under the surface

Dive day. First-timers do a discovery dive one on one with an instructor. Certified divers head to the Abu Nuhas wrecks. Prefer to stay dry? Spa, golf, pool. Seafood together in the evening.

First dive included
Day
06

Luxor, the open-air museum

An early start for the optional day trip up the Nile: the columns of Karnak, the painted tombs in the Valley of the Kings, a felucca at sunset. It's a long day and worth it. Prefer to stay? A free day to enjoy the resort at your own pace.

Optional day trip
Day
07

One last swim

A slow breakfast, one last lagoon swim, your group photos already on your phone, and a transfer to Hurghada airport.

Where you stay

Panorama Bungalows Resort, El Gouna.

A hotel we would move into.

Bungalows around the lagoons, a private sandy beach, big pools and a short walk to Abu Tig marina. Not the flashiest hotel in town, one of the calmest.

All meals and drinks are included at the resort, so lunch on the beach or dinner by the pool is never a separate decision.
